Limpopo; Thohoyandou: Kalahari Waterfront in Thohoyandou was a centre of attraction as it played host to the 2022 Miss Heritage Global pageantry on the 24 th September 2022. Limpopo Tourism Agency (LTA) with its partners and stakeholders welcomed the first group of twenty-two pageants on the 14th September 2022 at the Ranch-Protea Hotel outside Polokwane. The Agency also organised excursions to various attractions including Bakone Malapa Open Air Cultural Museum, Mapungubwe National Park and World Heritage Site and Kruger National Park to give the pageants memorable experience of the province.
The most beautiful lady of the night was Miss Haiti, Abigail Pierre-Louis who was crowned Miss Heritage Global 2022. Alongside her was Miss Zimbabwe Eva Mzondiwa as the 1 st runner up and Miss South Africa as the 2 nd runner up.
The event commenced with thirty-five ladies from various countries representing various cultures of the world. This could not have been the perfect day to celebrate heritage on the day as it was also the South African national Heritage Day. It was also the moment to appreciate beauties from across the world competing for the crown of whose culture and heritage stands out.
Thavhani Mall was abuzz with various media houses capturing the moments where various traditional dance groups showcased their cultures in dance. LTA also saw this as an opportunity to partner with the mall management to stage the exhibition for various enterprises to promote their business thus providing market access for them.
The programme of this 10th edition of the event was directed by the famous comedian, Mpho Popps and TV host Khanyi Mbau. The evening was also graced by household names from Limpopo such as Makhadzi, and Master KG Ms. Mbofholowo Mbodi, who is the CEO of the Miss Heritage Global and owner of the luxurious wedding venue, Kalahari Waterfront was excited about the success of the event.
Miss Heritage Global is about celebrating the heritage and the diverse cultures of the world. Not only does the organization promote unity in cultural diversity through pageantry, but it has also established its global footprint and brand across 80 countries. As a result, it has created a new generation of young women who are proud of their roots and heritage, and embrace the heritage and culture of others, bringing nations together through their diversity.
The pageant promotes heritage, unifies a global diverse audience, empowers women to make a difference in their communities whilst campaigning on a global platform. The pageant inspires people to embrace their different heritage and
transform global communities by investing in global heritage.
The Acting CEO of LTA, Mr. Sello Maleka, is upbeat about the performance of the province moving into the festive period. “We are confident that this international event will inspire travel by most of the citizens of the province and the pageants who were in our province will also help by spreading to good message about Limpopo upon arrival in their respective home countries with what the province did by showing them around. We are optimistic that for the next three years of hosting this event, Limpopo will not be the same again”, said Sello Maleka, Acting CEO of LTA.
The pageants were again invited to be part of the all-white affair for the open- air music concert where pageants and members of the public were entertained. What a way to close of heritage month in Limpopo. South Africa will be the host of the event for another more two years to come as the country has won the bid for three years. It will be held at the same venue next year. This is a must-attend event and people are invited to be part of it again, come September 2023.
