LTA excited to receive droves of soccer lovers in Polokwane for the MTN 8 Cup Semi-final

Limpopo Province; Polokwane: Limpopo Tourism Agency (LTA) is excited about the thousands of football lovers that will be converging in Polokwane, Limpopo Province for the MTN 8 Cup semi- final to be played at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday, 22 October 2022. The Agency wishes to thank Mamelodi Sundowns FC for thinking of Limpopo for this spectacle.

LTA has for the past six years built a stable relationship with both Polokwane Municipality and Limpopo-based PSL clubs in the elite DSTV Premiership league. The province has been fortunate to always have a club or two in the premiership division, despite their inconsistency to sustain their stay in the elite league.

The elated Acting CEO of LTA, Mr. Sello Maleka, said, “We are indeed very thrilled about Peter Mokaba Stadium having been chosen as a home ground for Mamelodi Sundowns FC during this MTN 8 Cup semi-final game against Orlando Pirates FC. These are the only two clubs in the sub-continent which have both contested several times up to the finals in the CAF Champions League and have won it at least once each. Clearly these are the South African football giants, and any province would like to host soccer games of this magnitude. This will no doubt benefit business in Polokwane
and the province with several sub-sectors in the tourism value chain benefiting such as hospitality
(restaurants and eateries), services sector (filling stations) and accommodation facilities.

“LTA sees this as a huge marketing opportunity as this event draws droves of people from all over the country. We are also encouraging the visitors to take a Sho’t Left to some of our attractions just a stone throw from Peter Mokaba Stadium such as Bakone Malapa Open Air Cultural Musium and Polokwane Game Reserve. The match takes place just a week before a major tourism expo called Limpopo Holiday Fair from 27-29 October at Savannah Mall, where people can start booking their
holidays in the province”.

LTA urges people from Limpopo to come in their numbers to watch this game as a way of supporting business in the province while having fun. In the same token, people are further encouraged to support local clubs in the PSL both in the DSTV Premiership like Marumo Gallants FC and Sekhukhune United FC as well as a good number of those in the Motsepe Foundation league during their home games. This game will again bear testimony to the fact that Limpopo is capacious to host mega
sporting events.
